International Women’s Day Celebrated in CIS Countries

In the Azerbaijan Republic people celebrate the Women’s Day, in the Republic of Armenia – the Women’s Holiday, in the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan – the Women’s Day, in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation – the International Women’s Day, in the Republic of Tajikistan – the Mother’s Day.

The history of the holiday originates from the women’s movement for equality and the tradition of its official celebration dates back to the Soviet Union, when the holiday began to be celebrated at the state level with the provision of the day off.
