Jubilee International Forum “Children of Commonwealth” to kick off on 7 July

From 7 to 16 July 2025, the X International Cultural and Educational Forum “Children of the Commonwealth” will be held in Belarus, at the National Children’s Educational and Recreation Center Zubrenok, located in the Narochansky National Park.

This year, the Forum will be dedicated to the theme “80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Memory and Unity of Generations.”

The Forum will be attended by schoolchildren delegations from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

The Forum is organized by the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus with the support of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Schoolchildren of the CIS countries will be able to get acquainted with the history, culture and traditions of the Belarusian people. The children will visit significant memorial sites of the Great Patriotic War and meet with veterans.

Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova and Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy will speak at the opening ceremony of the Forum.

The Forum program will begin at the National Children’s Technology Park, where the children will learn about its work and participate in workshops on science and innovation.

Each day, they will explore the history, culture, and traditions of one of the Commonwealth countries. The program includes a variety of activities, meetings, and excursions. The “No-tie Meeting” will be attended by representatives from the Ministries of Culture, Education, Sports and Tourism, Health, and the National Academy of Sciences.

The Forum participants will meet with Belarusian cosmonaut Maryna Vasileuskaya, visit the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and learn about the work of Belarusian parliamentarians, and visit the National Library.

The program also includes a visit to the landmark Memorial Complex “Khatyn”, which was built on the site of a village that was burned down by the Nazis along with its inhabitants and has become a global symbol of the countless sacrifices and courage of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War. In addition, the students will participate in a ceremony of laying flowers at the “Minsk is a City-Hero” stele.

The program includes master classes on public speaking and acting with the participation of Belarusian actors and representatives of the Belarusian media, creative meetings with folk artists, writers, and composers, as well as sports competitions, dialogue platforms with Belarusian athletes, intellectual games, educational trainings, music contests, dance marathons, and many other activities.

The Forum “Children of the Commonwealth” was initiated by the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and supported by the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. The first Forum was held in 2013 in Cholpon-Ata, in a boarding house on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul.
