Kazakhstan Senators Adopted Amendments on Parliamentary Opposition

The regular meeting of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan chaired by Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev considered and adopted the Law on Amendments to the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Status of its Members, the Law on Amendment and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Committees and Commissions of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Parliamentary Opposition Issues.
According to the press service of the Senate, the draft laws were developed upon the request of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to establish the institution of parliamentary opposition. These laws aim to implement the legal framework of the parliamentary opposition, including through exercising by the opposition of its rights and providing guaranteeing of election of its MPs as the Chairman and the Secretary of the Standing Committee of the Majilis of the Parliament.
