Nurlan Nigmatulin: Current Session is Expected to be Intense

On 9 September 2020, during the plenary session of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan chaired by Nurlan Nigmatulin, the MPs approved the Plan of the Main Parliamentary Events for the sixth session. Nurlan Nigmatulin stressed that the current session was expected to be intense featuring extended thematic meetings of the committees and roundtables to consider relevant issues. Parliamentary hearings on of providing legal assistance to the citizens are also scheduled. All events will be organized in compliance with sanitary and epidemiological requirements.

According to the press service of the Mazhilis, the MPs considered a number of new draft laws during the meeting. In particular, the Mazhilis approved in the first reading the legislative amendments on the issues of regulating the terms of detention for the expulsed persons. In addition, the MPs approved a package of ratification draft laws, including amendments to the Convention for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income and Capital.

The chamber also set the terms for the relevant committees for the preparation of opinions on new draft laws, including amendments to the Law on Notaries, the draft law on the ratification of the Agreement on Pension Benefits for Working Population of the EAEU Member States, as well as the amendments to the Agreement on the Joint Collegium of Custom Services of the Customs Union Members.
