Parliament of Republic of Uzbekistan Approves Participation in EAEU as Observer

At its plenary session on 11 May, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan approved the participation of the country in the Eurasian Economic Union as an observer. Similar decision was taken by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on 28 April.

According to the advocates of cooperation with the EAEU, the integration will facilitate further expansion of foreign trade, implementation of major investment projects and territorial clusters, development of regional ties while organizing industrial and trade zones.

It is also emphasized that cooperation with the EAEU will positively affect interests of the transport and communications sector, facilitate cargo transit, and create wide opportunities for the citizens working in the EAEU countries.
