Republic of Armenia Celebrates National Flag Day

The flag of the Republic of Armenia is a state symbol of the republic.  The Supreme Soviet of Armenia adopted the flag on 24 August, 1990.

Annually on 15 June, the Republic of Armenia celebrates the National Flag Day. On this date in 2006, the state’s parliament passed the law “On the national flag of the Republic of Armenia”. According to it, the National Flag Day is an official public holiday.

The flag of the Republic of Armenia is a rectangular panel, made up of three equal horizontal stripes: red, blue and orange. The red colour represents country’s independence and freedom. The blue one symbolizes a desire to live in the peaceful world.  Orange is a colour of creation and diligence of the Armenian people.
