Republic of Uzbekistan Celebrates Constitution Day

The Constitution Day is a national holiday in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The first Constitution of Uzbekistan was adopted in 1927, three years after founding of the Uzbek Soviet Socialistic Republic. In 1936 new USSR Constitution was adopted and the Constitution of the Uzbek Republic of 1937 was modelled after it. The third and the last Constitution of the Uzbek SSR based on the USSR Constitution of 1977 was adopted in 1978.
In August 1990, after declaring independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan from the USSR, the country faced a need for a new Constitution. For this purpose the Constitutional Commission was founded, which comprised representatives of political, legal and economic fields.
The Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan was adopted on 8 December 1992.
