Republic of Uzbekistan Improves Legislation in Field of Preserving Cultural Heritage

Today, the 23^rd plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan under the chairmanship of Speaker of the chamber Tanzila Narbayeva kicked off via videoconferencing. The event is attended by senators, government members, representatives of ministries and agencies.

The participants discussed the Law on Amendments and Additions to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the Strengthening of the Protection of Objects of Tangible Cultural Heritage.

The new Law provides for the strengthening of liability measures for the destruction, demolition, or damage of objects of tangible cultural heritage and classifies such acts as serious crimes.

The law was approved by the senators.
