Moldovan Parliament Adopted New Railway Code

On 3 February 2022, during the meeting of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, the MPs adopted in the final reading the new Code of Railway Transport. The document establishes the legal framework for the provision of passenger transport services, a mechanism for subsidizing them, a service regime and other issues related to the protection of consumer rights.

According to the press service of the Parliament, the railway infrastructure will still be owned by the government, however, private operators will be able to provide traction, passenger and freight transport services.
