Russian Senators Adopt New Package of Measures to Support Citizens and Business

The Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation adopted the Law on Amending Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation in Order to Take Urgent Measures Ensuring Sustainable Economic Development and Preventing the Consequences of the Spread of New Coronavirus Infection.

According to Speaker of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Economic Policy Andrey Kutepov, the law amends 23 federal laws and includes a number of substantial provisions.

The senator noted that the law helps to find a balance to solve the problem of the relationship between tenants and landlords in the current conditions.

The law also provides for other measures to support small and medium-sized enterprises, entitling the Government of the Russian Federation to establish exceptions that allow it to support SMEs.

In the field of transportation and tourism the Government is entitled, when introducing a high alert or emergency mode, to set special conditions of fulfilling passenger transportation agreements, including the right of a carrier to unilaterally change the terms of agreement or refuse to execute it and make a refund according to the established procedure.

The childcare allowances for children under the age of 1,5 will be increased to 6,752 rubles, and the maximum allowances for certain categories of citizens, including those unemployed during maternity leave, also rises to 13,504 rubles.

Also, the Federation Council approved the laws on the right of students to teach in schools and on a single information register.
