Russian Senators Adopted Amendments to Bring Legislation Into Compliance With Constitution

Today, at the meeting of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the senators considered 54 issues and adopted amendments in order to bring the legislation into compliance with the Constitution. The new powers of the President and the Federation Council demanded to amend the Federal Constitutional Law on the Legal System of the Russian Federation with the provisions on termination of judges’ powers.

The Law on State Council of the Russian Federation, which defines its status, composition and activities, was also approved.

The senators also adopted the Federal Law amending the provision of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation on the priority of the Constitution of the Russian Federation and similar amendments to the Code of Arbitration Procedure, the Code of Civil Procedure, the Code of Administrative Procedure and 115 other laws in order to implement the constitutional amendments and ensure the supremacy of the fundamental law.
