Russian Senators Discussed OSCE Development with Organization’s Leadership

Today, Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Foreign Affairs Konstantin Kosachev held a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Ann Linde.
The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council on Foreign Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Federation Council on Social Policy Valery Ryazansky and member of the Committee of the Federation Council on Foreign Affairs Vadim Dengin.
According to Konstantin Kosachev, the OSCE has not yet realized its potential and is currently in crisis. “We would like to see the Organization as the strongest and most effective structure. Russia is interested in this”, noted the senator.
According to Ann Linde, during the Swedish presidency of the OSCE, the organization’s activities will be aimed at maintaining the basic principles of European security. Ann Linde also expressed her intention to cooperate with Russia on the issue of women’s rights in the economy, and, as head of the Swedish Foreign Ministry, to pay attention to various aspects of bilateral Russian-Swedish relations.
