Rustami Emomali and Tanzila Narbaeva met in Dushanbe

Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva and Speaker of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Rustami Emomali held a meeting in Dushanbe. The parties signed an agreement on cooperation between the upper chambers of the parliaments of the two countries, which provides for strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, joint parliamentary monitoring of the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, and the continuation of close cooperation within international parliamentary structures.

Over the past five years, trade and economic ties between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have significantly expanded. They discussed the need to establish joint work at the legislative level to bring the volume of mutual trade turnover to $1 billion in the near future.

During the dialogue, the sides noted the high level of interaction in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the importance of organizing joint cultural events, including bilateral forums of intellectuals, joint concerts and tours of masters of arts. An agreement was also reached to take effective measures to develop “pilgrimage tourism”.
