Senate of Oliy Majlis of Republic of Uzbekistan Adopted a Number of Laws

Today, the sixth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan took place via videoconferencing headed by Speaker of the Senate Tanzila Narbaeva.

The meeting brought together 76 members of the Senate, as well as members of the Government, heads of a number of public authorities, representatives of the permanent commissions of local councils, members of the Youth Parliament and heads of territorial bodies of the respective ministries and agencies.

Tanzila Narbaeva opened the meeting and noted that even in times of the pandemic the Senate had continued its active work.  All five plenary sessions held this year were organized via video-conferencing and discussed about 90 issues, including 33 draft laws. As for the inter-parliamentary activity, 30 meetings were held online.

At the meeting, the MPs considered the revised Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Education, which clarifies the rights, obligations, liabilities and social security of all stakeholders of the educational process, as well as the matters of the pre-school education.

The senators also discussed and approved the revised Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Employment of Population, which introduces modern professional and labour standards, aims to improve the remuneration mechanism, increase employment opportunities of persons in need, financial assistance and stimulation of social activity of the unemployed.

In addition, the revised Law on Countering Human Trafficking was adopted, which contains provisions on social rehabilitation and adaptation of victims, and measures protecting their personal data and ensuring their security.

The session also considered the Law on Administrative and Territorial Structure of the Republic of Uzbekistan and some other legal acts.
