Valentina Matvienko: Presidential Address is a Main Reference Point for Activities of Federation Council

Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko delivered a speech today at the opening of the 504^th meeting of the upper chamber of the Russian parliament, devoted to the implementation of the provisions outlined in the Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly.

Valentina Matvienko noted that the Address was traditionally aimed at all public authorities, all Russian citizens, the whole Russian society – it was a true address to the nation and each resident of the country.

According to the Speaker, the Address confirmed that Russia was a responsible social state that did not leave its citizens in trouble and was always ready to find reserves to provide additional assistance.

Valentina Matvienko emphasized that the Address was the main reference point for the activities of the Federal Assembly, and each of the legislators should carefully analyze its content and determine for themselves the focus areas within the framework of their competences and powers.

 “Each senator must be result-oriented in his or her efforts. We are expected to deliver high-quality, concrete and useful work on the implementation of the Address. I ask you not to forget that the main purpose of all our efforts should be primarily the improving the lives of citizens. This is a key criterion for of effectiveness”, quotes the press service of the chamber.
