Valentina Matvienko: We Honor Feat of Those Who Defended Leningrad

Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko addressed the citizens of St. Petersburg on the 78^th anniversary of the Leningrad siege break-through.

She reminded that 18 January 1943 has become the date symbolizing the selfless love for the Motherland, great resilience, self-sacrifice and patriotism of citizens of Leningrad.

“Today, we honor the feat of those who fought to defend Leningrad. Those heroic days will always be in our hearts. Everlasting glory to the heroes of the city on the river Neva!” concluded Valentina Matvienko.
