Vladimir Putin Discussed With Russian Legislators Tasks of Implementing Presidents Address

On 27 April 2021, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin met with the members of the Council of Legislators at the country’s parliament. Traditionally, the event took place in the Tavricheskiy Palace.
At the beginning of his speech, Vladimir Putin congratulated all present on the Day of Russian Parliamentarism. According to the President, like at the beginning of the last century, parliaments of modern Russia represent different political forces. However, he noted that for the MPs of all levels, Russia's national interests would always come first. The President recalled the main provisions of the Address and expressed hope for the active assistance of parliamentarians in their implementation. Vladimir Putin also drew attention to the fact that the federal parliamentary elections will be held in the fall.
During the meeting of the Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko also made a speech. The head of the upper chamber noted that the measures of social support announced in the President's Address served as direct evidence that the state focused on each individual, his well-being, health, and the right to self-fulfillment. According to Valentina Matvienko, much would depend on the quality and efficiency of the regional teams. In this regard, the Speaker of the Federation Council noted the task of getting rid of archaic legislative norms and requirements, refusal of redundant control checks. She called on her colleagues, including those from the regions, to speed up this work.
The Speaker of the Federation Council also drew attention to the fact that the regional authorities should, as a matter of priority, address issues of environmental well-being. In addition, Valentina Matvienko touched upon the topic of overcoming negative demographic trends, modernizing primary health care, especially for children.
Speaker of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin said that the implementation of the President's Address is fundamental, very important and relevant for legislators. In his speech, he focused on legislative work in the regions. Viacheslav Volodin also said that the State Duma already had draft laws to implement the priority tasks of the President's Address.
The meeting was also attended by members of the Council of Legislators, chairs of legislative (representative) bodies of state power of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, heads of committees of the Federation Council and the State Duma and other government officials.
