Women: Global Mission in a New Reality” is Topic of Third Women’s Eurasian Forum

On 12 October 2020, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko held a meeting of the Organizing Committee of the Third Eurasian Women’s Forum to take place in St. Petersburg next September.

The event was attended by First Deputy Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Sergey Kourdin.

“The Eurasian Women’s Forum has awakened women’s initiative in various areas. The Forum helps to step up women’s agenda in politics, economy, social area, it draws the attention of authorities, public institutions and civil institutions. Women’s agenda is getting louder and louder in Russia” stressed Valentina Matvienko.

The Chairperson of the Federation Council recalled that work was constantly under way between the Forums, such as the functioning of the Council of the Eurasian Women’s Forum, which was actively searching for the new areas for cooperation with international organizations and associations.

Valentina Matvienko also called for the use of various formats to ensure wide participation in the Forum of representatives of Russian regions, foreign countries and international organizations.

Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Galina Karelova drew the attention to the significant expansion of the list of topics and areas of discussion of the Forum.

Expert platforms organized by international organizations and associations will traditionally serve as an integral part of the program, which include a visiting session of the Women’s Twenty and a meeting of the BRICS women’s business alliance. Special sessions with the UNESCO, the WHO and the World Bank are also being considered.

For the first time, the International Working Group of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency dedicated to expanding the prospects for professional and career growth for women in high-tech industries and in the field of nuclear technologies will be held within the framework of the new project of the Council of the Eurasian Women’s Forum “Women in Nuclear Industry”.
