Commonwealth Countries Celebrate Christmas

On 7 January Orthodox Christians around the world celebrate the holiday of Christmas, traditionally considered one of the 12 major religious holidays of the year.

Christmas Eve is celebrated on January 6 and the festive Divine Liturgy is conducted on 7 January at night. Twelve days following Christmas are usually called “holy days”.

Christmas is a festive day off in many CIS member nations.
