CIS countries celebrate Defender of the Fatherland Day

The Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation celebrate Defender of the Fatherland Day, which is a public holiday in these countries.
The Republic of Belarus also celebrates Defender of the Fatherland Day on 23 February, however, it is not a public holiday there.
Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko noted, that Defender of the Fatherland Day was a nation-wide holiday to pay tribute to all servicemen and all those who had ever fought to defend their country.
