CIS Parliaments Enhance Security Measures Due to Pandemic

The CIS parliaments take measures to counter coronaviral infection.

The Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic temporarily canceled the meetings of the parliament and its committees, as well as the foreign visits of its MPs and staff members.

The Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan limited the visits, the events are broadcasted online at the website of the chamber’s official accounts. Members of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan switched to a new format of work. Only MPs and keynote speakers participate in the sessions. MPs are recommended to stay in the Mazhilis building only during the plenary sessions and meetings of committees and working groups on key laws.

Similar measures are in place in the parliaments of the Republic of Armenia, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
