Kazakhstan Senators Suggested to Change Approach to Selection of Enterprises for State Support

Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Dariga Nazarbayeva held a meeting on the support of the Kazakhstan business during the economic recovery period and post-crisis development. The meeting was attended by the vice speakers and the heads of a number of committees of the upper house.

The senators proposed changing the register of the systemically important enterprises defined by the State Commission on Economy Modernization, and the approach to the selecting companies for state support.

During the discussion, the senators emphasized the need to update the system of criteria by which enterprises are classified as system-forming and to review the basic concepts and approaches.

Dariga Nazarbayeva stressed that enterprise applying for support should take commitments to maintain and increase work places, payment of taxes, investment plans for the development and manufacturing of the production, which meet domestic demand and export.

Following the meeting, the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan will prepare an appeal to the Government with recommendations and suggestions with respect to approaches and criteria for the formation of the Register of Systemically Important Enterprises.
