On 22 April, the lower chamber of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted at its plenary session the amendments to the Constitutional Law on Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Law on Political Parties.

The amendments establish 30 percent quota for women and youth in the party electoral lists, which will create conditions for their inclusion into electoral and political processes in the country. The threshold for registration of the political parties was reduced from 40,000 to 20,000 people. The amendments approved by the deputies will encourage political parties to work more actively with different social groups and take their interests into account.
