Parliament of the Republic of Moldova convenes an ad-hoc session

Today, the Moldavian Parliament convened an ad-hoc session that will last for 2 days. The parliamentarians will discuss the situation of the media in Moldova.

On 31 December 2013, Moldtelekom stopped broadcasting Accent TV TV channel, the same followed for RTR Moldova on 4 Jan. On 13 January 2014, several private cable TV providers including Sun Communications, a major network, removed Jurnal TV and RTR Moldova from their starter packages.

The biggest faction PKRM urged to convene an ad-hoc session to discuss the recent attacks on the national TV channels and identify those who compromise the freedom of speech in Moldova.
