Kiev established the Organizing Committee for the Ukrainian chairmanship in the CIS

The press-service of the Ukrainian Cabinet reports that the composition of the Organizing Committee has been approved by the Government.

Ukraine took chairmanship of the CIS after Belarus. Before, Nikolay Azarov, Ukrainian prime-minister, said that Kiev will focus on new projects and programs of industrial cooperation and ensure practical launch of all the mechanisms of the Agreement on Free Trade in the CIS and the harmonization of technical regulations used in mutual trade.

At a meeting with the ambassadors of the CIS countries, Ukrainian MFA Leonid Kozhara stressed the economic dimension of the cooperation under the Ukrainian Chairmanship (drafting agreement on pipeline transits, marketing of services, phased removal of customs fees, stepping up cultural and humanitarian ties).

In the cultural dimension, in March 2014, the IPA CIS will organize events commemorating the 200th birthday anniversary of Taras G. Shevchenko.
