Republic of Azerbaijan celebrates the Constitution Day
12 November 2016
The constitution of 1995 became the fourth constitution of Azerbaijan and reflected its new historical transformation.
The history of constitutional development in the Republic of Azerbaijan falls mainly within the USSR period. The need to prepare a new constitution emerged after the country had regained its independence. For this purpose, a special committee was established under the leadership of the President Heydar Aliyev, and a new fundamental law of the country was adopted through the referendum on 12 October 1995.
