Russian MPs Adopt Laws on Protection of Military Graves, Loan Extensions and Medicines Sales over Internet

The special session of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation approved a number of laws previously adopted by the State Duma.

Citizens and entrepreneurs, as well as small- and medium-sized businesses most affected by the coronavirus pandemic are provided under the law with extensions on consumer credits and mortgages for up to six months.

MPs also approved the law allowing for sale over-the-counter medicines over the Internet. The law also provides for selling of prescription drugs during the pandemic or in case of emergency with the exception of potent, psychotropic and narcotic substances.

Upon the proposal of the President of the Russian Federation, the MPs approved the amendments to the Criminal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure, which establish criminal liability for the destruction or damaging of military graves, as well as monuments, stelae, obelisks and other memorial structures or objects, perpetuating the memory of the country’s defendants or glorifying the Russia’s military. The maximum penalty is imprisonment for up to five years.
