Russian parliamentarians celebrate the Day of Parliamentarianism

The date was not chosen by chance: the First State Duma of the Russian Empire as the first democratic institution in the history of the country began its work on this day in 1906. All four convocations of the State Duma of the Russian Empire deliberated in St. Petersburg, the capital of Russia at the time, at one of the most beautiful buildings, the Tavrichesky Palace.

The establishment of this memorable date of Russia as the Day of Russian Parliamentarianism is intended to draw the attention of the general public to the activities of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the legislative public authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

The Tavrichesky Palace, the IPA CIS HQ, is referred to as the cradle of Russian parliamentarianism.
