Several Commonwealth nations celebrate bright holiday of Christmas

On 7 January Orthodox Christians all over the world celebrate the bright holiday of Christmas, traditionally regarded as one of twelve main church holidays of the year.

Christmas Eve is celebrated on 6 January, and on the night of 7 January the Divine Liturgy is made. For twelve days following the Christmas is traditionally called “holy days” or “yuletide”.

In many CIS countries Christmas is an official day off.
