Republic of Armenia celebrates Christmas and Epiphany

Until the 5th century all Christian churches celebrated the holiday of Christmas and Baptism on 6 January. The Armenian Church kept up the tradition: on this day the Republic of Armenia celebrates the Christmas and Epiphany.

On the Christmas Eve the Divine Liturgy is made, Christians light candles in churches, bring them home to light the house and prepare for the Christmas. On 6 January in the morning the Christmas liturgy is made and water is consecrated.

According to the Labor Code of the Republic of Armenia, the day is an official day off.
