Tajikistan celebrates the Day of the National Flag

The flag of Tajikistan is of 3 colours: the red symbolizes freedom and independence, the white is for peace and the green is for prosperity.

In the center, there is a crown and a semi-circle of 7 stars; the stars stand for 7 historical and cultural centers of the Tajiks.

The highest flagpole in the world is in Dushanbe. Its height is 165 m. Many historians believe that the history of flag has more than 4,000 years of history. The first flags originate from Babylon, Egypt and China.

The Day of the National Flag in Tajikistan on 24 November has been a public holiday since 2009.
