The Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan elected its Speaker

Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kuandyk Tutgankulov opened the first plenary session of the Lower House of Parliament. According to the official site of the Parliament, at the first session the MPs elected Baktykozhu Izmuhambetov as Speaker of the Majilis. The Speaker was elected through a secret vote with the use of special paper ballots.

The newly elected Speaker thanked the voters for their trust and noted that the Kazakhstani believe in the strategic goals set by the Head of State Nursultan Nazarbaev in program documents which is proven by the highest turnout of the recent parliamentary election. The Speaker of the Majilis suggested this cooperation between the government and the civil society should continue to ensure legal framework for strategic initiatives of the Head of State.
