Ukraine celebrates Independence Day

The Independence Day is celebrated in Ukraine on 24 August every year. On the occasion of the holiday, which falls on Saturday, the Ukrainians will get another day off next Monday.

The broad celebrations will include exhibitions, carnivals, festivals and competitions. The celebration program also features a presentation of the best books by Ukrainian authors, including the expo of new releases. Besides, three new parks will start work during the weekend in Kiev.

On 24 August 1991 the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialistic Republic adopted the Act “On the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine”.
