1,500 foreign parliamentarians will visit the Tavricheskiy Palace in October

Speaking to journalists after the 136th Assembly of the IPU, which took place in Dhaka (Bangladesh), Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Deputy Head – Coordinator of the Delegation of the Russian Federation to the IPA CIS Ilyas Umakhanov noted: “We hope that President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will open the 137th Assembly of the IPU. At least we have a preliminary agreement. This, of course, will increase the political significance and level of the subsequent events. We expect more than 1,500 participants. The number of participants will be record-breaking. There are a lot people willing to come to St. Petersburg”.
The main events of the 137th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union will take place in the headquarters of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the Tavrichesky Palace. The Opening Session, which will take place in the Congress Center (Expoforum), will bring together almost 2,500 guests. The Closing Ceremony of the 137th Assembly is expected to be held in the new building of the Mariinsky Theatre.
