47th meeting of the Coordination Committee for Air Defense at the Council of the CIS Defense Ministers

At its 47th meeting in Astrakhan today, the Coordination Committee for Air Defense at the Council of the CIS Defense Ministers discussed the plans to develop the integrated air defense system.

The meeting brought together the delegations of the defense ministries of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrghyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The participants of the meeting discussed the issues of setting-up and roll-out of joint measures for developing operational and combat capacities of the CIS integrated air defense system in 2018, as well as other issues related to its further improvement.

Until 7 September 2017, the active phase of the joint exercise of the CIS integrated air defense system forces “Combat Commonwealth – 2017” is taking place at the Ashuluk training site in the Astrakhan region. Various tactical scenarios are simulated that include countering massive missile and air strikes and field firing of surface-to-air missile systems S-400, S-300, Pechora-2M, as well as “Pantsir-S” anti-aircraft missile and gun complexes.
