57th PABSEC General Assembly Held in Istanbul

Today, the 57th General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) took place in Istanbul (Turkey) via videoconferencing. The meeting was opened by Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Zinaida Greceanii.
The session brought together the MPs from the PABSEC Member Nations: the Azerbaijan Republic, the Republic of Albania, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Bulgaria, Georgia, the Hellenic Republic, the Republic of Moldova, Romania, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Turkey and Ukraine, as well as the representatives of the Senate of the French Republic and international organizations.
The IPA CIS Council Secretariat was represented at the event by Head of the Expert and Analytical Directorate Denis Zhuk and Head of the Department of Inter Assembly of the CIS Member Nations national Relations Maximillian Selyutin.
During the meeting of the General Assembly, the participants unanimously approved the decision of the PABSEC Standing Committee on granting the status of an Assembly member to the Republic of North Macedonia. They were also briefed on the results of the activities of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, related organizations and partners for sectoral dialogue over the past period.
The 57th General Assembly focused on the role of parliaments in preventing human trafficking. As part of the discussion, representatives of the relevant parliamentary committees made reports on the legal, political, social and economic aspects of combating human trafficking. Based on the results of the debate, the General Assembly adopted relevant recommendations for parliaments.
