9th Plenary Session of Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries Takes Place in Baku

The delegations of the TURKPA Member Nations, headed by the Speakers of parliaments and representatives of international organizations, arrived in Baku to discuss issues of mutual interest.

Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Milli Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Aidyn Jafarov took part in the session. He greeted parliamentarians on behalf of the organization and delivered a welcome address of Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Dmitriy Kobitskiy.

During the session, participants heard reports and recommendations of the TURKPA Permanent Commissions and the presentation of the international observers on the snap presidential elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The agenda of the event also included the adoption of a number of documents, which addressed international challenges in the economic, social, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

As part of the program of the 9th TURKPA plenary session , the participants visited the Alley of Honor and the Martyrs' Lane where they visited the graves of heroic sons and daughters of the motherland and paid tribute to the memory of Heydar Aliyev – the national leader of the Azerbaijani people.
