Bilateral Meetings Took Place Within Conference Dedicated to CIS Convention on the Standards of Democratic Elections

Secretary General of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States Dmitriy Kobitskiy, and Chair of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus Igor Karpenko held a meeting within the framework of the International Research and Practice Conference “CIS Convention on the Standards of Democratic Elections: Open Space for International Cooperation”.

The parties discussed issues of cooperation and development of electoral legislation in the Commonwealth.

Igor Karpenko also had a bilateral meeting with his Russian colleagues. Deputy Chair of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Nikolay Bulaev shared with the Belarusian side the experience of organizing and holding a single voting day held on 11 September, and also spoke about information security measures taken in the country during the remote voting.

The parties exchanged views on the upcoming International Conference to be co-organized by the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) and Electoral Commission of the Republic of South Africa. The conference will take place in Cape Town on 17-22 October 2022.

In addition, the delegation of the Central Election Commission of Russian Federation headed by Nikolay Bulaev met with President of the National Independent Electoral Commission of the Central African Republic Mathias Barthelemy Morouba.
