CIS Council of Permanent Representatives Meets First Time This Year in Minsk

Today, the Council of the Permanent Representatives of the CIS Member Nations at the Statutory and Other Bodies of the Commonwealth under the presidency of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Belarus Marina Dolgopolova met for the first time this year at the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk.

Chairman of the Council of the CIS Foreign Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei and Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev and his deputies attended the meeting. Members of the Economic Policies Commission at the CIS Economic Council participated in the meeting via videoconferencing.

The participants were briefed on the results of the first-ever presidency of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the CIS in 2020. They commended Uzbekistan for the great work carried out on strengthening multi-vector cooperation within the Commonwealth during the unprecedented epidemiological conditions aimed at increasing the CIS international image.

Vladimir Makei presented the Concept of the Presidency of the Republic of Belarus in the CIS in 2021, the year of the 30th anniversary of the Commonwealth. He informed the participants on the main principles, goals and priority objectives of the Belarusian presidency.

According to the press-service of the CIS Executive Committee, the meeting also discussed the results of the meetings of the Council of the CIS Foreign Ministers and the Council of the CIS Heads of State. In accordance with the established practice, it was decided to draft the Common Action Plan of the CIS Executive Committee, the CIS Council of Permanent Representatives and the Economic Policies Commission on implementation of the decisions taken at those meetings and proposals made by the heads of delegations.

The permanent representatives finalized the draft agenda for the regular meeting of the Council of the CIS Foreign Ministers scheduled for 2 April and defined the Plan of Work for the CIS Council of Permanent Representatives for 2021.
