CSTO Secretary General and PA CSTO Executive Secretary Discussed Cooperation Issues

On 17 August 2020, the Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Moscow (Russian Federation) hosted a working meeting of CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas and PA CSTO Executive Secretary Sergey Pospelov.

The parties discussed the cooperation of the working bodies of the CSTO and the PA CSTO Secretariat on the issues scheduled for 2020 and outlined the practical steps for their implementation. The participants also considered the legislative proposals on the model laws initiated by the CSTO Secretariat and discussed joint participation in the military exercise held by the CSTO Member Nations and international events organized within the framework of the organization’s activity.

They also discussed the issues to be considered at the meetings of the PA CSTO standing committees. Stanislav Zas and Sergey Pospelov exchanged opinions on the implementation of the model legislation adopted within the 2016-2020 program and the finalization of the draft PA CSTO Program of Activities on Convergence and Harmonization of National Legislations of the CSTO Member Nations for 2021–2025. The document is to be submitted for the consideration of the PA CSTO Council also to be attended by Stanislav Zas.

The participants of the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to expand cooperation between the working bodies of the CSTO and the PA CSTO Secretariat in the interests of Member Nations, to promote the credibility and influence of the CSTO both in the Member Nations and on the international level.
