Conference Dedicated to 30th Anniversary of Electoral System of Russian Federation Takes Place in Tavricheskiy Palace

On 30 November 2023, the research-to-practice conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Electoral System of the Russian Federation opened at the IPA CIS headquarters.
The conference was organized by the St. Petersburg Election Commission and the Election Commission of the Leningrad Region with the support of the IPA CIS.
Chair of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova, Chair of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus Igor Karpenko, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-Western Federal District Alexander Gutsan, Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov and Governor of the Leningrad region Alexander Drozdenko were guests of honour at the conference.
Secretary General of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Dmitriy Kobitskiy briefed on the longstanding cooperation of the IPA CIS with the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.
The IPA CIS and the CEC of Russia cooperate in many areas of activity, including the organization and holding of international events.
In October 2022, together with the CIS Executive Committee and the CEC of Russia, the research-to-practice conference “CIS Convention on the Standards of Democratic Elections: Open Space for International Cooperation” was held in the Tavricheskiy Palace to mark the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Convention.
As part of the conference, the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, together with representatives of the CEC of the Kyrgyz Republic, organised an exhibition entitled "Advanced Technologies in the Electoral Process", at which conference participants could learn about technical means of voting and vote processing.
At the end of the conference, the IPA CIS awards ceremony took place. Dmitriy Kobitskiy awarded Ella Pamfilova with the IPA CIS Certificate of Excellence for active participation in the activities of the Interparliamentary Assembly and its bodies, contribution to strengthening friendship between the peoples of the CIS Member Nations.
Igor Karpenko was awarded the anniversary medal "IPA CIS. 30 years" for his contribution to the development and improvement of the legal framework for the functioning of the CIS countries, strengthening international relations and interparliamentary cooperation.
The conference in the Tavricheskiy Palace became a key event of the cycle of events dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the Electoral System of the Russian Federation.
