Council of CSTO Foreign Ministers Holds Meeting Via Video-Conferencing

The Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization held a meeting via video-conferencing. The meeting co-organized with the CSTO Crisis Response Center was dedicated inter alia to the joint fight against the coronavirus infection.
The meeting was chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.
The ministers held an extensive discussion on the status and prospects for the development of the international and regional environment and the security of the Member Nations, focusing on the CSTO peace-keeping activity and potential threats due to the pandemic.
During the meeting, the priority was given to the issues of the CSTO cooperation with the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The participants considered and adopted the draft statements on the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, on Renewed Commitment to the Principles and Goals and the Charter of the United Nations, on Solidarity and Mutual Assistance in Countering Coronavirus Infection COVID-19, as well as on the Support of the Appeal of the UN Secretary General for a Global Ceasefire amid the Pandemic.
The ministers also adopted the draft Decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council on the Distribution of Quota Posts in the CSTO Secretariat and the draft Decision of the Council of the CSTO Foreign Ministers on the Consultations Plan of Representatives of the CSTO Member Nations on Issues of Foreign Policy, Security and Defense in the Second Half of 2020 – First Half of 2021.
