Experts Analyzed Situation with Tuberculosis in Commonwealth Countries

Over the past few years, the tuberculosis situation in the Commonwealth countries has stabilized. Such conclusions were reached by members of the CIS Working Group on Tuberculosis under the CIS Coordination Board on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the meeting of which was held on 14 September in Minsk.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe and the CIS Executive Committee. The IPA CIS was represented by Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights, Executive Secretary of the IPA CIS Board of Experts on Public Health Evgenia Vladimirova and Representative of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat at the CIS Executive Committee Igor Borovko.
The main issue of the meeting was the discussion of the implementation in 2022-2023 of the Joint Action Plan of the CIS Member Nations to Prevent the Spread of Tuberculosis.
The issues of tuberculosis treatment for migrant workers and organization of information transfer on such citizens remain relevant.
The main objectives of the Plan are a comprehensive approach and development of cooperation of the Commonwealth countries in order to implement the main principles of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Global Strategy and Targets for Tuberculosis Prevention, Treatment and Control beyond 2015, adopted at the 67th session of the World Health Assembly.
