Forum “Children of Commonwealth” Kicked Off in Uzbekistan

The VIII “Children of the Commonwealth” International Cultural and Educational Forum is being held in Uzbekistan from 21 to 30 June. The forum is organized by the IPA CIS and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the support of the CIS Humanitarian Action Trust Fund.
The forum is attended by school students and their mentors from the CIS countries: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva sent greetings to the participants. She noted the diverse, interesting and rich program of the forum.
Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova also sent greetings to the forum participants.
Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy, in his greeting addressed to the school students from the CIS countries stressed that the forum laid the foundation for constructive and effective international cooperation in the future.
The students learned about the local flavor, traditional handicrafts and musical instruments.
As part of the Day of Uzbekistan, a meeting was held with a delegation of the Youth Parliament under the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Speaker Behzod Tukhtamurodov.
Chair of the Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the Development of the Aral Sea Region Boriy Alikhanov conducted an educational training session for participants of the Forum “Children of the Commonwealth”. The senator briefed the students about environmental issues, paying special attention to the situation in the region adjacent to the shallow Aral Sea.
On 23 June, the Day of Armenia was held within the framework of the Forum "Children of the Commonwealth" in Uzbekistan. Armenian students introduced their peers from other countries to the culture and traditions of their country. On 24 June, school students were able to learn about the cultural traditions of the Republic of Belarus within the Day of Belarus. On 25 June, the Day of Kazakhstan was held within the framework of the Forum. On 26 June, school students were able to learn about the cultural traditions of the Kyrgyz Republic within the Day of Kyrgyzstan. On 27 June, school students were able to learn about the history and culture of the Russian Federation within the Day of Russia at the Forum.
The forum “Children of the Commonwealth”, initiated by the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan, has been held annually since 2013. In total, more than 700 school students took part in it during its inception.
The main goal of the project is to create an international platform for the education of children and youth in the spirit of good neighborliness and cooperation.
