IPA CIS Events Presented at PABSEC Plenary Session in Baku

The 65th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) was held in Baku.
The event was addressed by the Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, acting Chair of the PABSEC Sahiba Gafarova.
The Speaker noted “such meetings contribute to the rapprochement of nations and the strengthening of mutual understanding, as well as actively shaping both regional and global agendas to maintain peace, development, and equal cooperation”.
The CIS Interparliamentary Assembly was represented at the event by member of the Committee of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Law Policy and State-Building, member of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Legal Issues Sabir Hajiyev and Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council – Plenipotentiary Representative of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Aydin Jafarov.
Aydin Jafarov said “the cooperation between the PABSEC and the IPA CIS has a long history, and the central focus of the Black Sea association’s work, which is economic and trade cooperation, also remains one of the priorities for the Interparliamentary Assembly”. Furthermore he spoke about the upcoming IPA CIS events: the second International Forum “Sustainable Development of Mountain Territories” and the Travel Hub “Commonwealth” Forum will be held in the Republic of Dagestan (the Russian Federation) in October 2025.
The session addressed procedural, organizational, and financial issues, so relevant decisions were made. The participants were presented with reports on the activities of the PABSEC, the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, and the International Centre for Black Sea Study.
Other topics discussed at the event included "Strengthening Connectivity and Increasing Mobility in the BSEC Region through Modern and Sustainable Transport Infrastructure."
Parliamentary delegations and representatives of other international organizations, including TURKPA, the Regional Secretariat for Parliamentary Cooperation in South East Europe (RSPC SEE), the Permanent International Secretariat of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC PERMIS), the Union of Road Transport Associations in the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC-URTA), the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB), and the Marmara Group participated in the PABSEC 65th Plenary Session.
