Meeting of Council of Permanent Representatives of CIS Countries Held in Minsk
25 February 2025
A regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member Nations at the Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth was held today.
The Permanent Representatives took note of the report on the activities of the CIS Advisory Board on Cooperation in Fundamental Research in 2020-2024.
Great importance was attached to the work on the creation of targeted programs and funds for the financing of priority interstate research and innovative projects, the creation of conditions for ensuring free access of scientists to scientific infrastructure, the popularisation of science and scientific activities among young people.
The members of the CPPR were informed about the implementation of the roadmap for the realization of the initiatives expressed by the heads of delegations at the meetings of the Council of Heads of State, the Council of Heads of Government, the Council of Foreign Ministers and the Economic Council of the CIS on security cooperation.
Some of these initiatives have already been implemented or are in their final stages, while others require constant attention and coordination of the relevant structures. For example, Uzbekistan’s initiative to develop a program of inter-CIS cooperation in the field of deradicalisation has been fully implemented.
The Plenipotentiaries considered proposals for the draft agenda of the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which will be held in Dushanbe on 5 June.
It is planned that the next meeting of the CPPR will be held on 26 March in conjunction with the Commission on Economic Issues of the CIS Economic Council.
Representative of the Council Secretariat of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in the CIS Executive Committee Igor Borovko took part in the meeting.
