Ninth International Forum “Eurasian Economic Perspective” Kicks Off in Tavricheskiy Palace

Today, the Ninth International Forum “Eurasian Economic Perspective” opened in the Tavricheskiy Palace – the IPA CIS headquarters. The event, which is one of the main congress platforms for conducting a dialogue on integration issues in the Eurasian space, is dedicated to the topic “Development of Eurasian Integration in a Post-COVID World: Time to Act”.

The event brought together the representatives of legislative and executive authorities of the Member Nations of the Eurasian economic integration, members of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, academics and experts from leading universities of the Eurasian Association of Universities, economists, politicians and public figures, representatives of business community.

Secretary General – Head of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Dmitriy Kobitskiy greeted the participants of the event, noting in his speech that “the approximation and harmonization of legislation in order to overcome obstacles to free movement of goods, services and labor resources arising from differences in legal regulation in national legislation is a priority of the parliamentary dimension of Eurasian integration. Therefore, the topics brought up for the discussion are of significant importance to the IPA CIS”.

Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich sent a video message to the forum participants. He thanked the organizers for the important and, particularly, demanded activities to develop effective integration approaches and noted the importance of efforts to develop the EAEU.

In his speech, delivered by Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg Andrey Khlutkov, Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov pointed to the high influence of the Forum and stated that interaction with the Member Nations of the Eurasian Economic Union was one of the priority areas of international cooperation of the Government of St. Petersburg.

The work of the Forum continued within the thematic sessions.
