PACE Ordinary Session Takes Place in Strasbourg

On 20 June 2022, the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe began its work in Strasbourg. The central topic of the opening meeting was security issues in the region.
In his opening speech, PACE President Tiny Kox acknowledged that the security system built within the Council of Europe cannot adequately ensure peace and security on the continent, and stressed the need to study the causes of instability and make timely changes to the European security architecture.
During the opening meeting, the participants discussed reports on the activities of the PACE governing bodies , the results of monitoring by international observers of the presidential and early parliamentary elections in Serbia in April this year, as well as issues related to current security threats in the European region.
Head of the Expert and Analytical Directorate of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Denis Zhuk, Head of the Department for International Relations of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat, Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation Maksimillian Selyutin and Adviser of the Department for International Relations of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat Maria Tikhotskaia took part in the event on behalf of the IPA CIS Council Secretariat as observers via videoconferencing.
Discussions within the framework of the Session are held in Strasbourg from 20 to 24 June 2022.
