World Celebrates International Anti-Corruption Day

Upon the initiative of the United Nations, the International Anti-Corruption Day is celebrated annually on 9 December.
This day, in 2003, the UN Convention against Corruption was opened for signature at the High-Level Political Forum in the Mexican city of Merida. The document binds its participants to declare bribery, embezzlement of public funds and money laundering a criminal offense.
The main theme of this year’s International Anti-Corruption Day “Recover with Integrity” focuses on the COVID-19 pandemic and emphasizes that dealing with its consequences can only be done in an honest way.
