 14th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament Takes Place in Tashkent

The 14th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament (14SWSP) kicked off in Tashkent. The main theme of the event is “Parliamentary leadership: Anticipating risks to better deliver sustainability and prosperity”.

The Summit is co-organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Women speakers of the IPU, representatives of more than 120 parliaments from 17 countries, heads of a number of international organizations arrived in Tashkent to take part in the event.

Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva and Secretary General of the IPU Martin Chungong opened the Summit. President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a greeting to the participants of the event.

The event is attended by Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gulshat Mammedova, as well as Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Galina Karelova and the CIS MPs.
